Main duties and responsibilities
The post-holder will contribute to teaching, assessment, supervision and fieldwork in environmental management and other degree programmes (as appropriate) in Geography, Environment and Planning. They will be accessible and supportive of students in the role of personal tutor, and will also assist in the administration, admissions and marketing of degree programmes. They will be expected to contribute to, strengthen and develop the research and enterprise activities within the area of water quality and related areas.
Skills and experience needed
The post-holder will have demonstrated teaching excellence in Water Quality and Water Resources Management (ideally water quality, water pollution control, wastewater, water policy) at HEI level (or training and presenting in a professional setting) with positive feedback gained, plus experience of project supervision and administration. They will have excellent field skills and knowledge of core areas of teaching and training in Water Quality and Water Resources Management.
The successful individual will have a track record of academic publication in water research, commensurate with their career stage. They will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills consistent with the highest quality of teaching and learning, along with evidence of successful teamwork and a caring and collegial approach. Proficiency in English is essential.

Qualifications required
The post-holder will have completed, or near-completion of a PhD in a relevant field, or have equivalent demonstrable practitioner experience which may include appropriate certification and/or membership of a relevant professional body. Membership of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management, and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy are desirable. If the post-holder is not a FHEA, they will need to complete this via the University of Hertfordshire’s Continuing Professional Academic Development programme.
This is a fixed term post, available for two years in the first instance.
