Reporting to the Department Administration Manager, you will be an integral member of the Department’s Research Support
Team (Post Award), working across a range of grants to support and assist grants holders to ensure grants are administered
in accordance with the funders conditions and University regulations, and that financial and HR procedures are adhered to at
all times.
Educated to degree level, or with equivalent experience, you will have expertise and experience of grant administration
processes and financial management, preferably in a Higher Education context. You will be highly organised and efficient at
prioritising a busy workload as well as providing excellent customer service and expert knowledge. Disseminating information
to a wide range of stakeholders will be an essential part of the role, and you will have excellent interpersonal skills and proven
ability to communicate effectively. You will also be responsible for the line management of a Research Support Assistant.
Over the last five years research activity in the Department has continued to expand, which enables high employability for
students through research-led teaching. Civil engineers have a responsibility to address emerging global engineering
challenges. The Department’s growing expertise in resilient infrastructure, sustainability and carbon-neutral construction,
energy generation and storage, digital technologies, characterisation of new materials, and management of risk and hazards,
shows a dedication and passion about making the world a better place and producing engineers who will build a better
future.
The Department's research activities are organised into four main research groupings of Water, Structures, Ground, and
Environmental which contain specialist sub-themes including: Water Engineering, Computational Mechanics and Design,
Geotechnical Engineering, Steel Structures, Concrete Engineering, Resources, Infrastructure Systems and Built Environments
(RISE), Earthquake Engineering, Blast and Impact Engineering.
