Background
Historic data on stream discharge rates are available, but many timeseries are incomplete.
The discharge rates of the streams in the southern part of West Brabant are relevant for assessment of ecological conditions, especially for fauna in the streams, and also for conditions that pose inundation risks in the catchment areas of the streams
A reconstruction of complete time series of discharge rates by filling in the gaps is needed
It is yet insufficiently clear what method is best for the completion of incomplete timeseries
Time series of precipitation, evaporation and groundwater levels are available
Objectives
Better knowledge of the water system with respect to discharge rates of streams in the area of the water board
Development of tools or models that enable accurate simulation of discharge rates as a function of meteorological data, groundwater levels and soil moisture conditions.
Research questions
What method/technique is most suitable to simulate discharge rates of streams in the southern part of West Brabant?
How reliable and accurate can we simulate/reconstruct stream discharge rates
